When I see something that excites me I want to get it down on paper -
and this has always been my response.
Every child draws and paints and this counted for me too
(though my first effort using my mother's lipstick on the bedroom curtains didn't go down so well!) Every spare moment at school would see me in the art room - I even had my own key.
I can't remember ever  wanting to be anything but an artist. Plenty of
pressure not to be one of course. It was okay as a hobby but it could

never  be  a proper job. Well  meaning advice from parents and teachers
who  didn't want me to starve.
Which is why I have a bachelor's degree in economics -  I'm not sure how
given that I can hardly add up. And why I too gave up art for many years

with only an occasional stab when time allowed. I suppose it was an irresistible force that led me back to drawing and painting, facilitated by
the seclusion of a croft in Scotland and the generosity and support of
friends and family for which I am extremely grateful.
